The stranger within you.

The Strategy: Try and count the number of times you have said to yourself: "I feel strange in this situation. I can't do it. It is too hard" What is this strange feeling? Where does it come from? What is it that you can't do? Why is it that you don't believe in yourself? And you feel overwhelmed. Something you cannot explain is controlling you. You can’t seem to stop it because you’re totally unfamiliar with it and you are unconscious of why or how it is running your life. This strange feeling is “the stranger within you", the face or image of yourself inside a mental picture that you haven’t yet identified as YOU. This stranger within yourself is desperately trying to tell you something. He/she would like to know you. And, you’d better get to know him or her because all of us have this stranger within us. This stranger is someone you can get to know, to be your friend, your guide to success and happiness instead of despair and frustration. The Action Steps: Look closely at yourself and see the stranger within you. When you’re functioning confidently as a result of past, successful experiences, this stranger is your friend. But, when you’re overcome with negative feelings such as lack of confidence, indecision, anger, you realise that the stranger is your enemy. Summery: When you think, you think in mental pictures. And inside every one of these picture, YOU are there. You see yourself, and when you see yourself, you FEEL and act according to how you see yourself in these pictures.
